50th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan (Phuoc Tuy Province, South Vietnam

Casualties: 18 killed, 24 wounded
Viet Cong and North Vietnam forces: 2,500 men
Casualties: 245 killed, 350 wounded and 3 prisoners

Members from D Company of the 6th Battalion of the Royal Australian Regiment were surrounded and attacked on all sides by a much larger Viet Cong unit at the Battle of Long Tan, but held position for several hours until reinforcements arrived.
